4 Weeks until Christmas!

Hello Everyone,

I hope you all enjoyed that snow while it was here. :P

Here's some things we are learning in class:

Math: We have finished subtraction and will be launching on unit on geometry this week
Language: We are learning about nouns: person, place, thing or idea. There can be common or proper nouns. We are also continuing to learn how to write good paragraphs. In reading we are continuing to learn about making predictions and summarizing the story.
Gym: We have been practicing catching and throwing.
Bible: We are working our way through the gospels learning all about Jesus' parables and "radical" teaching.

PLEASE NOTE: Your child should have read enough minutes to be in Wood Island, P.E.I., at this point in the R.A.C. program. Please make sure you are reading and if you have fallen behind begin working on ways to catch up. Thank you. Short Week!

Hello,

We only have school three days this week. So things may look a little different. Here is what is going down:

Wednesday: Hotdog Lunch; Disciple Quiz; Memory Work Test - John 14:6

There will be no spelling test or library this week. I ask that you check with your children to make sure that they are bringing proper foot wear for gym class! They need to have indoor shoes that will not make black marks on the floor. They also need shoes that are going to stay on their feet while running! :P Thanks!

Also, thanks for all the great donations for the bazaar basket.

I hope you all have a great extended weekend together. :)

Reformation Week!

Hello Everyone, I hope you have had a great weekend!

This week is Reformation week and we will be learning all about John Calvin and his influence during the Reformation.

Field Trip Info:
It is also the week of our class trip, which will be happening on Thursday. We are going to be going to The Hamilton Museum of Steam and Technology, located in the north-east end of Hamilton. We will be leaving the school at 11:20am and arriving back at the school in time to go home. While there, we are going to get a tour and participate in strong and stable structures activities. Your child should wear his/her uniform and may bring along money to spend at the gift shop. We will be eating our lunch during first nutrition break and will have the option to eat snacks on the bus.

Thank you so much for sending in the permission slips. If you haven't done so yet, please do! I would also like to thank the parents who have volunteered to come along on the trip. I will notify you Tuesday if you will be coming.

Read Across Canada:
Please make sure that your child is reading at least 60 minutes a week out loud for the Read Across Canada program. This is only 15 minutes a night and really helps your child's reading development! :) Thanks!!

Report Cards

Hello!

I have just finished the report cards. :) Please do not be too concerned if you see the odd low mark. We are only six weeks into school and some of the subjects only have one or two marks in them so far. That being said, some of the marks are overly high as well because there has only been a few assignments so far. Your children are doing great for the most part and seem to be fitting into grade 3 fairly well. I look forward to having conversations with some/most of you next week Thursday at the parent teacher interviews. Have a great Thanksgiving!
