Strong and Stable Structures

The students made structures in groups of four. Their goal was to use triangular shapes with the materials given to them. They were to build a structure that was both strong and stable, using the knowledge they have learned throughout the unit.

4 Weeks until Christmas!

Hello Everyone,

I hope you all enjoyed that snow while it was here. :P

Here's some things we are learning in class:

Math: We have finished subtraction and will be launching on unit on geometry this week
Language: We are learning about nouns: person, place, thing or idea. There can be common or proper nouns. We are also continuing to learn how to write good paragraphs. In reading we are continuing to learn about making predictions and summarizing the story.
Gym: We have been practicing catching and throwing.
Bible: We are working our way through the gospels learning all about Jesus' parables and "radical" teaching.
Science: We are finishing up our structures unit within the next week or so. We have learned a lot about strong and stable structures.

PLEASE NOTE: Your child should have read enough minutes to be in Wood Island, P.E.I., at this point in the R.A.C. program. If your child is not reading at least 60 minutes a week they are not getting the proper practice they need to build their oral reading skills. Please make sure you are reading and if you have fallen behind begin working on ways to catch up. Thank you. If not caught up within the next few weeks, or if there is no signs of improvement, a note will be sent home.

Here is our schedule for this week:

Monday: Read pages 144-148
Tuesday: Read pages 150-154

Some Leaf Art!

We used crayon to create designs on the leaves we drew. After that we painted with water based paints. This is what the students created. We always have lots of fun during art! :)

Short Week!

Hello,

We only have school three days this week. So things may look a little different. Here is what is going down:

Wednesday: Hotdog Lunch; Disciple Quiz; Memory Work Test - John 14:6

There will be no spelling test or library this week. I ask that you check with your children to make sure that they are bringing proper foot wear for gym class! They need to have indoor shoes that will not make black marks on the floor. They also need shoes that are going to stay on their feet while running! :P Thanks!

Also, thanks for all the great donations for the bazaar basket.

I hope you all have a great extended weekend together. :)
